Community Organizer | Environmental & Social Justice Leader

The People’s Mayor

Born in El Monte, California and raised in Fontana, Joz has spent her life fighting for equity, justice, and opportunity — from her hometown to the national stage. Her journey has taken her from organizing in neighborhoods like hers to shaping campaigns and mobilizing voters across the country. But her heart has always remained in Fontana, and she’s running for mayor to bring real, people-centered leadership back to the city.

Joz has over 15 years of experience leading grassroots campaigns and building powerful coalitions across the U.S. She’s held leadership roles in some of the nation’s most influential progressive organizations, including:

  • First-ever Chapter Director, Sierra Club San Gorgonio (serving San Bernardino and Riverside Counties), where she advances environmental justice, climate action, and the protection of our public health and natural spaces.

  • National Field Director, Progressive Turnout Project, overseeing voter engagement efforts in key battleground states.

  • National Field Director, Corazón Latino, focusing on public health, environmental protection, and Latino community empowerment.

  • State Director, Mi Familia Vota (Nevada), where she led civic engagement, voter registration, and immigration justice campaigns.

  • National Campaigner, MoveOn.org, where she championed bold policy change, rapid-response organizing, and digital advocacy.

From campaign headquarters to community town halls, Joz brings people together to solve problems, speak truth to power, and build a better future.

“I’ve worked across the country to fight for justice, but Fontana has always been home. I’m ready to serve my city — and lead it forward, together.”
